( March 16, 2014, London, Sri Lanka Guardian) The Sri Lankan Ministry of Defence has ordered for the disappearances campaigner Balendran Jeyakumari, who is currently reported to be detained at Boosa camp, to be detained for 18 days, reports Uthayan.

Ms Jeyakumari made the following statement to the judge:

"On the day of the incident, about 3.30 pm, I was feeding food to my child. At that time a tall person wearing a black jacket jumped over the wall and ran into our house.

I took my daughter and immediately went outside the gate. Officers of the Terrorism Investigation Department were present outside our house in their vehicle. Without saying my name, they stated a name similar to mine, and asked if this was their house.

Before I could answer the question, as they said their name and asked if this was their house, they insisted this was my house, and introduced myself as the individual associated to that name. Immediately after, they sat us beside their vehicle and went inside the house.

Soon after they went inside, I heard two gunshots. Following that a large number of police and army came and interrogated us. I said I do not know anything about the person who jumped over the wall."
