Sri Lanka: Prime Minister Wickramasinghe Calls for Presidential Election

Massive crowd in Colombo to protest against President Sirisena






( November 15, 2018, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) In an interesting move, the elected Prime Minister Ranil Wickramasinghe called for a fresh Presidential election in accordance with the Constitution in Sri Lanka to solve the prevailing constitutional crisis in the country.

He has proposed this while addressing the protest organised by the political parties here in Colombo this evening.

Meanwhile, Speaker Karu Jayasuriya had offered to bring 122 parliamentarians supported the no-confidence motion against Mahinda Rajapaksa, the appointed Prime Minister Rajapaksa, to meet President Maithripala Sirisena but President wanted to meet only leaders of UNF, TNA, JVP today at 5 pm to discuss the stalemate.
