Karunanidhi ready for Hunger Strike

A leader of Dravida Munnetra Kazagam and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, M Karunanidhi has threatened to go on a hunger strike after the Supreme Court deemed the Tamil Nadu bandh called by the DMK unconstitutional.

A special bench of the Supreme Court had restrained the Tamil Nadu government from going ahead with the proposed bandh on Monday, October 1 in protest of the Ram Sethu controversy.

Karunanidhi said on Sunday (September 30), "I've spoken to all party leaders, we wil lgo on hunder strike from tomorrow. I canot comment on the Supreme Court."

Earlier, the Chennai High Court had also stayed the bandh following which the Tamil Nadu government had filed a petrition in the Supreme Court.

The DMK had opposed the stalling of the Sethu Samudram project after a political row broke out over the authenticity of the Ram Sethu, the bridge that was supposedly built by Lord Ram to cross over to Sri Lanka Lanka.
