Plot to Kill Sonia Gandhi?

(April 05, Chennai, Sri Lanka Guardian) A man held with loaded gun at a rally to be addressed by Congress President Sonia Gandhi at Karaikudi in Tamilnadu.

It has to be noted that tight security arrangements were made besides grand arrangements for the visit of Congress leader Sonia Gandhi to Karaikudi in Sivaganga district on Saturday.

A special 12 feet-high bullet-proof stage has been set up for Sonia to address the crowds.

The entire town of Karaikudi wore a festive look, with flags and banners decorating every nook and corner. The Congress leader was scheduled to reach Karaikudi from Tiruchy by helicopter at 2.30 p.m on Saturday and participate in three functions including the inauguration of the memorial hall constructed in memory of the Union Finance Minister P Chidambaram's father Palaniyappa Chettiar at the Alagappa University in Karaikudi.

The UPA chairperson was also scheduled to participate in the public meeting to be held at the Alagappa Matriculation School.
