(July 27,London, Sri Lanka Guardian) Handful of LTTE front Tamil Youth Organisation (TYO) activists gathered on 25 July 20008 in the Trafalgar Square to fast for 25 hours to commemorate the victims of Black July 1983.
Slide show of the fast published by the TYO confirms very few friends of office bearers of TYO participated in the hunger strike. The temporary shelter put up was half empty. The TYO activists were seen more interested in distributing leaflets and canvassing the summer holiday makers than engaging in the fast.
Some banners displayed went beyond displaying the remembrance of 1983 state sponsored anti-Tamil violence by proclaiming the LTTE demand for a separate Tamil Eelam state.
