New Delhi connives!

- The Sudar Oli Editorial

(August 24, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) Lankan Tamils are frustrated at the news that surfaces regarding New Delhi’s strategies diplomatic and otherwise, to secretly connive with Colombo in Lankan issues particularly in Lankan ethnic issues. Since there is mass support for the Lankan Tamils in Tamil Nadu and since the present Delhi regime depends greatly on the support of Tamil Nadu for its survival, Manmohan Singhe government makes its moves rather surreptitiously and secretly as far as the Lankan Tamil issue is concerned.

This has been particularly so since, Narayanan, the National Security Advisor, was entrusted with the handling of Lankan issue. His approach has been to weaken the national struggle of the Tamil people.
Therefore, it is no surprise that the present Delhi regime connives with Colombo that is determined to crush the LTTE and encourage an alternative leadership among the Lankan Tamil people.

LTTE is a banned organization in India and one cannot blame the Indian government for its moves against the LTTE, but, what irks us is that the Indian government pretends to be concerned about Tamils and then secretly makes such moves against the interests of the Tamil community. Narayanan and Co have had a great share in these acts of connivance with Colombo on many matters.

It is a shame and it is a disgraceful conduct for Dr.Karunanithy, who claims to be the world leader of Tamils, to be in hands and gloves with the Indian Central Government in this matter and at this hour of distress of the Lankan Tamil people.

It is revealed that, while New Delhi connives with Colombo to crush the LTTE, Karunanithy regime has taken stringent measures against the LTTE on the insistence of Delhi.

It is crystal clear that Colombo is not committed to find a political solution and India is fully aware of it. Yet, it plays a hide and seek game without exerting the necessary pressure on Colombo for a political solution. India has committed a summersault.
