All political parties must contribute for peace

- Virakesari Editorial

(September 06, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) Every time the war commences, innocent people are faced with sufferings and economic losses. Innocent Tamil people are suffering due to the war. Students are suffering without basic facilities and are unable to continue their educational activities even though schools have commenced.

Vijitha Herath, JVP‘s General Secretary cum JVP parliamentarian has said that JVP doesn’t accept innocent Tamil people being killed in the war against terrorism. He has also said that government has a greater responsibility to provide relief to the people, who are displaced and that the government should follow norms of humanism.

We cannot forget that when many sides were stressing that solution to the national ethnic problem lies in peace talks, the JVP and the extremist forces were pressing for a military solution.

It is a welcome move that the JVP has thought about the sufferings of the people at this stage. People‘s normal life is affected and the people are living in fear. No one is worried about this. Moreover, country’s economy is affected badly.

War is the reason for the crisis faced by the country and the sufferings faced by people of all communities. Therefore, all political parties should contribute sincerely to end this war!
