Pathetic plight of IDP

– Virakesari Editorial

(September 16, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) In the face of the war, people are suffering. Many people have continued to live as refugees for 3 decades. They long to live in their inhabited lands.

As a result of the war and displacement many people have gone to Tamilnadu seeking refuge. They are still living in refugee camps either in Sri Lanka or in Tamil Nasdu.

As a result of the on going war in Vanni, 200,000 internally displaced people have taken refuge at schools and other places. They are facing many difficulties without basic facilities.

NGOs are helping these internally displaced people. Since a situation has arisen where the NGOs have to leave Wanni, the internally displaced people are protesting that UN agencies should not leave. All should contribute to find a solution to the humanitarian crisis faced by these people.

People can live peacefully only if a solution is found to the national ethnic problem. Else, their pathetic life cannot come to an end. Therefore, all should contribute to create a peaceful atmosphere.
