Indian Tamil Politician And Hypocrisy

- Are these hypocrites going to give a life line to the world’s most ruthless terrorist organisation that kills men, women, children irrespective of their race, religion, age, physical health, economic or social status etc? Will they take the responsibility of the murders that the LTTE committed including their own Prime Minister?

(October 03, Toronto, Sri Lanka Guardian) When one million Burundians were massacred Indian Tamils did not protest. When thousands were killed in Sudan no word uttered. Hundreds and thousands have died in Iraq and Afghanistan while the Indian Tamil politicians had gagged themselves. So it is not the moral obligation towards humanity that makes them agitate against the military campaign in Sri Lanka. It is the pain of the thought that the LTTE is being defeated makes them try everything to reverse the course. The LTTE has massacred thousands of innocent Singhalese, not to mention the Tamils, the Muslims and the rest. The Tamil politicians of Tamil Nadu did not feel the pain. When the government of Sri Lanka fulfils its responsibility to protect its people the hypocrites cry our “genocide”. If the Tamils can protect the Tamils what is wrong with the Sinhalese protecting the Sinhalese. The double standard cannot win.

Let us be honest about the whole thing. Why should the Sri Lankan army kill innocent Tamils? What would they gain from doing so? How many innocent people have been purposely killed by the security forces? How many people have even died as a result of collateral damage? Do the numbers amount to genocide or the Indian Tamils do not know the meaning of genocide?

The truth is that the Tamils whoever they are and wherever they are want to indulge in some form of Tamil heroism. So far the antics of Velupillai gave them that mental satisfaction. It is hard for them to digest that it is not going to be the case any longer. Hence the agitations, criticisms, mass mobilisations etc to influence the central government to intervene.

It is some of them who are critical of Sri Lanka’s army commander’s comments. Those comments again are misinterpreted to tarnish the image of the Sri Lankan government. General Fonseka has simply said that every country has a leading race and the country is named upon them. For example England and the English not Afro Caribbean, France and the French not the Moroccans and the Algerians, Heladiva and the Helas not the Tamils. He did not say that England is only for the English, France is only or the French and Heladiva is only for the Helas.

Rather he said other races live within those countries are called minorities and the countries are naturally ruled by the majority race. Prabhakaran’s name sake Velupillai the other day had raised that the majority rule does not mean the majority race but the majority seats in the parliament. Unfortunately he does not see that the reality is that the majority race has the majority seats. Fonseka did not say that the minorities should not have equal opportunities to life, wealth, education employment and equal access to services. Instead he said that the minorities have to live with the majority rather than looking for separation. That was again misinterpreted as the Tamils have to liver at the mercy of the Sinhalese. In fact the case was the other way around at least for the last thirty years. The Sinhalese had to live at the mercy of Prabhakaran.
