(September 25,Matara, Sri Lanka Guardian) A vehicle belonging to UNP Southern Provincial Council election candidate Buddhika Pathirana has been attacked near his residence down Rahula Road in Matara.
“One of the vehicles I generally use arrived at my residence early this morning. As the car stopped an armed group that arrived in several vehicles surrounded the car. They then attacked the car and caused severe damage to it. They even tried to drag the passengers out. They thought I was inside but they could not open the doors. Thereafter they started shouting for the weapons to be brought,” said the UNP candidate Buddhika Pathirana.
He went on to say that the individuals who attacked his vehicle fled the area as soon as the Police was informed and those at home were woken up. -Sri Lanka Guardian
