Iran exposes the lies and deception of the Western powers

(October 06, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) Beginning the first week of September there was an unusual barrage of verbal rhetorics against the Islamic Republic of Iran. This was on account of the impending speech of President Ahamadinejad at the United Nations on 23rd September and the talks on the nuclear issues on October 1st at Geneva. The US and its allies 5+1 issued threats of crippling sanctions, if Iran did not yield to their demands and Israel threatened to bomb the nuclear sites in Iran. Israel in fact threatened to unilateraly bomb Iran unless Iran halted its nuclear enrichment end of December 2009.

The powerful countries although they talk of diplomacy and negotiations do not in fact know the art of diplomacy or negotiations. For long, taking a lead in the build up of their economies and their weapons they have been used to have their way and issues are settled to their advantage by threat coercion and force accompanied by a lying media.

The tactics of the Western powers are based on lies and deception. Iran is insisting that the US government abide by the US non-proliferation treaty that the US itself originated and pushed and that Iran signed. However the US government, which is currently engaged in three wars of aggression and has occupying troops in a number of other countries, insists that Iran, which is invading and occupying no country, cannot be trusted with nuclear energy capability, because the capability might in the future lead to nuclear capability like Israel’s India’s and Pakistan’s all non – signatories to the nuclear proliferation treaty, countries that unlike Iran, have never submitted to IAEA inspections. Indeed at this very moment the Israeli government is screaming and yelling “anti- Semite” to the suggestion that Israel submit to IAEA inspections. Iran has submitted to IAEA inspection for years.

In keeping with its obligations under the treaty, on September 21st Iran disclosed to the IAEA that it is constructing another nuclear facility. The British prime minister Gordon Brown confused Iran’s disclosure with “serial deception” and declared, “we will not let this matter rest.” What matter? Why does Gordon Brown think that Iran’s disclosure to the IAEA is deception? Does Gordon Brown mean that Iran is claiming to be constructing a plant but is not, and thus by claiming one is deceiving the world?

US President Obama not to be outdone declared “The Iranian government must now demonstrate through deeds its peaceful intentions or be held accountable to international standards and international law.”It is the US government and its NATO puppet states and militarist Israel, of course, that need to be held accountable to international law. Under international law the US, its NATO puppets and Israel are war criminal governments. There is no doubt about it. The record is totally clear. The US, Israel and the NATO puppet states have committed aggression exactly as did Germany’s Third Reich, and they have murdered a large number of civilians.

Meanwhile, the US and Israel governments, who are so solicitous of international law and holding accountable countries that violate it, have moved to prevent the report of Judge Richard Goldstone from reaching the UN Security Council Why? Because Judge Goldstone’s report found Israel guilty of war crimes in its massive military assault against civilians in Gaza.

The continues efforts of the world’s two militarist aggressor state the United States and Israel to demonize Iran was addressed by Ahamadinejad in his speech to the UN General Assembly September 23rd. Ahamadinejad spoke of the assault on human dignity and spiritual values by the selfish material interests of the US and its puppet states. Seeking hegemony “under the mantle of freedom,” the US and its puppets use “the ugliest methods of intimidation and deceit” to disguise that they are “the first who violate” the fundamental principles that they espouse and apply to others.

Why, Ahamadinejad asked the UN General Assembly, do the countries of the world sit there while Israel murders and dispossesses the Palestinian people?

Why, asked Ahamadinejad, do the countries of the world sit there while the US, from thousands of miles away, sends troops to the middle East, “ spreading war, bloodshed, aggression, terror and intimidation in the whole region,” while blaming the countries that are suffering the West’s naked aggression?

Ahamadinejad told the General Assembly what most of the UN representative already know, that “selfishness and insatiable greed have taken the place of such humanitarian concepts as love, sacrifice, selfishness has taken the place of sacrifice. Deception in foreign affairs is called foresight and statesmanship, looting the wealth of other nations is called development efforts; occupation is said to be a gift that promotes freedom and democracy; and defenseless nations are subjected to repression in the name of defending human rights.”

The more the Western powers and Israel attempt to pressurize and demonize Iran, the more resolute Iran becomes to meet the threats. The announcement of a second nuclear enriching plant and the long range missile tests before the October 1st meeting are pointers to Iran’s refused to bow before the Western powers and Israel.

In an interview with Ahamadinejad during his visit to address the UN in September by Larry King of the CNN, King asked Ahamadinejad about whether he thinks Israel will strike Iran’s new nuclear facility. Ahamadinejad says no, and then proceeds to lecture King on the geographic size of Iran, its population, and its ancient history. He says the Zionist regime –Israel is too small and weak to hit Iran, but King asserts that Israel could. Ahamadinejad retorts “They will not make this mistake because the response they will get from us will be one which they regret”

So the saga of trying to contain the progress of the Islamic Republic of Iran by demonstration, war threats, lies and deception continues, while Iran stands fiercely independent and resolute ready to meet any eventually.

In effect what Iran is saying is “We are a sovereign state with our inherent capabilities for self defence. And if you attack us, you do so at your own visit.” Iran is making it clear that all US bases in the region and Israel itself is within the range of their newly tested missiles. Iran is simple saying “If you choose to attack us, we can and will defend ourselves.”
