LTTE leaders become ‘patriots’ because they threatened to expose Govt.’s illicit transaction with LTTE- Ranil

The President who is guilty of the biggest betrayal is trying to turn the tables on me, alleging that by he ceasefire agreement I betrayed the country. If the ceasefire agreement is a betrayal , why did he hold on to it and so faithfully for two years ? Why didn’t he revoke it ? - Ranil

(October 06, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian)UNP and Opposition leader Ranil Wickremesinghe addressing the media at the his Office at Cambridge place today (6) , made a shocking exposure that the Govt. had to release Daya Master and George Master , two LTTE front liners because they have threatened to expose the illicit transactions and negotiations the President and his Govt. had with the LTTE in the run up to the last Presidential elections and thereafter. The two of them are parties to these discussions and deals , and are aware of the details, he added.

These secret meetings and illicit payments to the LTTE have now become known even in Geneva and elsewhere . The ‘Hindu’ newspaper in an article on 7th July had questioned on these dastardly deals. Hence, it is no secret . It is the President’s duty to reveal the truth .In fact it was expected that the President would talk of this at yesterday’s meeting in Galle , but he refrained, thereby adding further fuel to the fire of the widespread belief that the country was betrayed to the LTTE .

When the ceasefire agreement was signed by me in 2002 , every minute detail of it was openly made known to the people and country. That is how a true leader and a govt. should act. After all we are elected representatives of the people . Hence ,the people are supreme , and they should be aware of what their representatives are doing. The President cannot play hide and seek according to his whims and fancies., he must be subservient to the masses , not self serving after being elected by the people.. The President cannot dodge this issue , therefore , he noted.

The President who is guilty of the biggest betrayal is trying to turn the tables on me, alleging that by he ceasefire agreement I betrayed the country. If the ceasefire agreement is a betrayal , why did he hold on to it and so faithfully for two years ? Why didn’t he revoke it ? he asked. He used the ceasefire agreement to negotiate with the LTTE . But , ultimately when he bungled , he started going round screaming that the ceasefire agreement was a betrayal . Indeed , he too supported the ceasefire agreement proposal at that time , Ranil emphasized.

The truth my dear Ranil .If the president as you say had a pact why would he kill all the geese that laid the golden eggs.Unfortunately for Sri Lanka Mahinda did not become President earlier. Now he has to face the music you and Chandrika created.
