The General promises equal rights for all

(January 18, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) The leaders of all parties supporting his candidature have begun a journey based on trust, says Genral Sarath Fonseka, the common opposition candidate.

Addressing a public rally in Wattegama, the General said that all parties had joined him with the faith that he would render an honest service to the nation.

“All ethnicities joined us irrespective of religious or language differences. Furthermore the political parties in the North and East also joined us. The leaders of the TNA joined us without any agreement being signed, with the faith that we will render an honest service to the nation.

"I have not signed any agreement with these political leaders. We are continuing along this journey based on trust. We will build the right environment for all to live in safety, to have equal rights and for all to live in brotherhood irrespective of any difference. That is why all these leaders have come together,” he said.
