Face the Future with Confidence - Minister Douglas

(January 24, Jaffna, Sri Lanka Guardian) Sankanai market is one of the old markets in the Jaffna penisula where a new building was constructed for the sales of coconuts and varieties of vegetable leaves in view of improving the basic sanitation problems under the instruction of the Minister of Industries and Small Enterprise Development Mr. Douglas Devananda.

The Minister officially declared open the new building today with the participation of the Divisional Secretary and businessmen. Addressing at the meeting Minister said that he thanks President Mahinda Rajapaksa for ending the war which brought immense sufferings to our people and requested the people to support the President who has expedited the development works in view of providing the facilities needed to live a improved standard of life which we lost in the past.

He further said Pongu thamil celebration led us to destruction but the National Pongal Festival will lead us to constructive development which is our immediate necessity at this hour. I am always with you and I have never run away from my people. Proper utilization of opportunities is important to improve our area and our people so as to provide them a new life in which they can enjoy freedom and democracy equal to other parts of the country. You can wisely use your opportunity in view of selecting the right candidates at the local government election which is to be held to establish the democracy in your area.

He called upon the people to face the future with confidence and assured that there will not be terror in future in any part of the country under the rule of President Mahinda Rajapaksa. A large gathering was present at this meeting.
