(August 17, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) More than 100 persons have been taken into custody from several areas in the country amidst allegations that they are ‘grease yakas” terrifying people in more than 1800 villages in the country.
Police said that many of them were using the guise of ‘grease yakas’ to spread rumours and cause unrest in many areas.
Police spokesman SP Prishantha Jayakody warned that those spreading rumours as well as pretending to be ‘grease yakas” would be dealt with severely.
