Sri Lanka: The Speaker refuses President's allegations

(November 15, 2018, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) By responding to the letter sent by President Miathripala Sirisena, the Speaker of the House Karu Jayasuriya has refused the allegation made by the President.

“I as the Speaker of the House I’m standing for the majority, which is believed is the democracy”, the Speaker noted.

"The decision you made on October 26, drives social disorder, so I kindly request you to listen to the majority of the parliament and solve the deepening crisis not only for those who are living in the country but also for the generation yet to be born', the Speaker requested the President Sirisena.
