Emergency rule again extended

Sri Lanka Parliament today (September 04th) extended the State of Emergency by a further month passed with majority of 76 votes.

A total of 88 members from the SLFP, the JHU and other parties in the government and the JVP from the opposition voted for the extension, while 12 TNA members opposed.

The UNP refrained, while the Western People's Front was absent at the time of the voting.
