(November, 09, Kilinochchi, Sri Lanka Guardian) An another one of child soldiers in LTTE who sustained injuries in the Air Force raid in Kilinochchi on November 02nd that killed political wing leader of the LTTE S.P. Thamilselvan and five others including child soldier, died today, reports from the north say.He has been identified as Sivalingam Aathavan alias Selvam from Kandavalai. He was recruitments by the LTTE at 12 years old in 2005, source in LTTE said.
The LTTE has posthumously conferred him the rank of ‘Major’, according to the reports.
According to a latest estimate, there are some 2,500 children in the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam's ranks.The number of child soldiers, some as young as seven years, participating in the various armed conflicts around the world is estimated to be about 300,000.
