“Collapsible of power balloon in the Regime”

(November, 20, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) Gayantha Karnatilake, UNP Parliamentarian addressing a Media briefing today (20 Nov) at the UNP Media Unit said that this Govt. is jubilating and reveling wasting millions of rupees of people’s money in the streets putting up posters and lighting crackers after crossing the Budget hurdle yesterday (20 Nov).

But, how it did this is also well known to the entire country. Even after all the nefarious and evil measures of the Govt. prior to voting intimidating the UNP M.P’s and the TNA members obstructing them from voting, and even going to the extent of committing abductions was able to win only by 17 votes. Besides, none of the original SLFPers and those who authored the Mahinda chintana and formed the Govt. voted for the budget. The JVP which propped the Govt. in every crisis also showed its disapproval, he said. The Govt. therefore won only on the votes of political turncoats and self seeking mushroom M.P’s., who have sought refuge under Rajapakse corruption protective umbrella.

It is obvious to Rajapakse Bros. and his ‘men’ just as all others are aware that its fate is written on the wall. Its fall will be worse than Humpty Dumpty’s great fall, he added.

It is true the Govt. stooped to the basest level to pass the budget in the second reading. But, what is the success for the people? He asked. People have been driven into greater despair and disaster by this budget while, as always, it is only the Rajapakse Bros. Co.that is nourished.

Unlike the Rajapakse Bros. Co which has nourished itself and the largest Cabinet in the World, and flourishing on the toils of the people, the UNP has always been a Party championing the cause of the masses.

The UNP will therefore continue in its campaigns to save the country and the people from the rack and ruin the Rajapakse junta has plunged them into. UNP has already started a signature campaign to collect 50 lakhs signatures for a public impeachment of the Govt. with a view to dismissing this menace of a regime once and for all, he concluded.
