LTTE sneaking into Tamilnadu?

(December, 27, Chennai, Sri Lanka Guardian) Former Congress Legislature Party leader in Tamil Nadu, S R Balasubramoniyan has pressed the alarm button by stating that there is a possibility of LTTE sneaking into Tamilnadu under the guise of refugees.

Speaking to reporters the Congress leader said that with the LTTE losing ground in Lanka and the worsening situation had forced scores of extremists to head towards Tamilnadu as refugees.

‘This would spell doom to the security of our country and hence the State government should take steps to check infiltration,’ he said.

Referring to propaganda that there was no ban on LTTE in Lanka, he said that it is nothing but a ‘mischief’ played by some political parties to scuttle the peace and sovereignty of the nation.

It is a fact that LTTE chief Prabhakaran is a proclaimed offender in the former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi assassination case.

And Shanmugalingam Shivashankar a.k.a. Pottu Amman who is a key accused in the case is still in Lanka.

He said the LTTE were indulging in smuggling activities like narcotics and arms and added that a person from Chennai was taken into custody for smuggling spare parts of ships to LTTE.

Terming that the some political parties were speaking in support of LTTE, he said that the government should take stern action against them too.

Reasoning out that unemployment problem was driving many youth to indulge in extremist activities, he demanded the setting up of a youth commission to ensure the job opportunities for them.

On flood relief, he said that the government should work on a warfooting in providing assistance to the victims. On power cut, he said there were unannounced power cuts across the State and demanded the government to take steps for proper maintenance of power generators at the appropriate time.

Alleging that many educational institutions have grabbed poramboke lands to a large scale, he said the government should act to retrieve the lands.

Referring to the law and order situation in Tamilnadu, he said that it is in a sorry state of affairs and asked the government to set things right.

Answering a query on Congress alliance with DMDK, he said the party high command would have to take a decision.
