Another Four LTTE Supporters Arrested in Tamil Nadu

(January 27, Chennai, Sri Lanka Guardian) Four Sri Lankan Tamils were held from their house in Perambur in the wee hours of Sunday by special police.

Acting on a tip-off, a special team raided the house on Kamarajar Salai at Perambur and arrested four Lankan Tamils — Sivaranjan (22), Gerald Vijayendran (24), both hailing from Jaffna; Kirilayan (25) and Uma Maheswaran (25), the duo came from Trincomallee.

While both Sivarajan and Gerald had registered themselves at the Gummidipoondi Police station, Kirilayan got his identify confirmed at Valasaravakkam Police station.

All the three refugees had come to Tamilnadu nearly 10 months ago, according to police.

However, Uma Maheswaran who had come a week before was yet to get himself registered at the police station.Hence, his passport and visa were impounded by the special team.

Though they have registered in different police stations, the Lankan Tamils were found staying in a place that came under the jurisdiction of Sembium Police which arose the suspicion of the special team.

Whether the arrested Lankan Tamils had any links with the LTTE or they had helped the banned outfit in any manner in the past are being probed by the special team led by Pulianthope Deputy Commissioner Sampath.

It may be recalled that only last week a LTTE man Thambidurai Parameswaran was arrested at Madipakkam along with his eight confidantes for their clandestine network with the banned organisation.
