Govt. Has Made The War An Excuse For All Its Misdeeds, Corruption & Blunders.

(January 23, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) Talatha Athukorale, UNP Parliamentarian addressing the Media today (23 Jan) at the UNP Media Unit regretted that the Govt. has made the war an excuse for all its misdeeds, corruption and blunders.

This is why it is claiming it is going to win the war jeopardizing the lives of innocent civilians and soldiers. If there is no war, the Govt. has no excuses to give to escape from the wrath of the people who elected it to power. So, war is the Hobson’s choice for the Govt. to justify its rule, she said.

This Govt. is in such disarray that the Ministers have lost their capacity even to make a single truthful statement nor honour a single promise. Bandula Gunawardane, the Minister of consumer affair is now known as the Minister of consumer despair - people are frightened to see even his face, not so much for his looks which contorts in harmony when he distorts the facts, but, because his sight portends immediate increase in price of essential goods.

When the prices of gas, bread, flour and a host of essential foods went up steeply, he justified the position by stating no one in the world can bring down the prices. If this is the explanation he offers to the suffering masses, why on earth do we need a Minister? she asked .

Of course, people now understand his explanation when viewed in the background of his dastardly political history and turncoat talents somersaulting from the UNP to the Rajapakse regime not to serve the people, but to serve himself joining others of his caliber in the Cabinet.

By saying nobody can bring down the prices, he is admitting he is there only to protect his portfolio, she exhorted.
