Ranil seek Court action agianst the Govt.

(January, 08, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) Leader of the Opposition Ranil Wickremesinghe yesterday (07 Jan) notified all MPs to seek Court action to restore their security. The Govt. has withdrawn their security despite threats to their lives, he added.

Ranil Wickremesinghe gave this instruction yesterday (7 Jan) when the UNP MPs met at the Sri Jayawardena Parliamentary complex. He also emphasised the need for the members to work together towards building the unity of the Party.

The CFA which was the last straw to save the country is no more.Very soon the whole country will get to know the fatal consequences of this abrogation by the Govt., he exhorted.

The Govt. has not been able to explain as to why it withdrew he security detail of Maheswaran so far, while it was fully aware that there were dire death threats to his life. He advised MPs to resort to Court assistance for restoration of their security withdrawn by this Govt.

In view of the unabated killings and abductions current in the country , as a mark of protest ,the Opposition leader and the UNP Party unanimously decided to abstain from voting today (8 Jan) for the extension of the emergency in Parl.
