'I don't believe in hatred'

(April 15, Chennai, Sri Lanka Guardian) Daughter of assassinated ex-premier Rajiv Gandhi, after meeting a jailed plotter, has said she would not let hatred and anger overpower her.

Priyanka Vadra met Nalini Sriharan at Vellore jail on March 19. Sriharan provided cover for the suicide bomber and several others involved in the bloody assassination in 1991 in Tamilnadu.

"It was a very personal visit and completely on my own individual initiative. I would be deeply grateful if this could be respected," Vadra said.

'It was my way of coming to peace with the violence and loss that I have experienced," she said.

Nalini, married to Murugan, sentenced to death in the assassination case, was also awarded capital punishment.

Her sentence was later commuted to life imprisonment after Gandhi's widow Sonia Gandhi pleaded for clemency for the sake of the convict's daughter.

Gandhi's son Rahul Gandhi said "I have a different way of looking at these things. I don't have a problem either".

Congratulations Priyanka and well done. Psychopath killer has used mothers, pregnant women, children, old and frail and even babies to sacrifice for his dream worse than Hitler or Pol Pot.

Showing kindness and compassion to those misguided is the best way to make them see the truth and it helps them in their rehabilitation and come out of this killer instincts.

That is the Buddhist and Hindu way to seek answers.
