Will this carnage ever stop?

  • [April 07, Toronto, Sri Lanka Guardian] We want solutions not murder and mayhem. The country must be tuned and tracked to seeking solutions and the ethnic crisis is a serious one. It is something that should never have ever become one in Sri Lanka a country blessed with four great religious traditions.

  • Once it began it should have been sorted out quickly and solved amicably.

Procrastination over it brought it into the arena of all kinds of evil elements and on their heels came terrorism of the worst kind.

Today it has become endemic in the country mostly aided by rampant corruption that has grown like a horrible hydra-headed monster. Sri Lanka has certainly entered the umbra of anarchy and one wonders when it will finally emerge from it.
The killing of Highways Minister Jeyaraj Fernandopulle is a terrible outrage but a continuing one on the people of Sri Lanka. Unfortunately, such outrages do not come from one source only.

The entire Sri Lankan society has been infected to such an extent, the rule of the country seems determined by guns, grenades and bombs of various kinds and all these have been piled up in the country and in the hands of so many agents of violence.

All it needs is for the Government of the land to begin to sort it out systematically and the primary issue is the ethnic problem. Once a beginning is made, the pathway to redeem, Sri Lanka would become clear.
