EROS Condemns Cold Blood Killing of Maheshwary

(May 15, London, Sri Lanka Guardian) The Eelam Revolutionary Organization (EROS) condemns the cold-blooded killing of Mrs Maheswary Velayutham in Jaffna on 13th May 2008. We were deeply saddened to learn of her assassination by killers who show ample disregard to human life, rights and the Tamil speaking peoples struggle and rights for self-determination.

This murder was totally senseless as Mrs. Maheswary Velayutham had sacrificed show much for the benefit of our Eelavar Tamil speaking community irrespective of their religion, caste or political allegiances.

This would not be the first time that our community has lost a leading Tamil representative and we hesitate to think that this would be the last.

Our heartfelt condolences go to her family and loved ones.

Our condolences also go to Minister Douglas Devananda and members of the Eelam Peoples Democratic Party (EPDP) and to the Tamil Information Centre (TiC) who have now lost an esteemed colleague to these terrorists.

We can only hope that the Government of Sri Lanka will take the necessary steps to put a curb on the killings, abductions and disappearances of those opposed to a fascist and chauvinist political ideology.
