Health Ministry again in the news for negligence and inefficiency -ACHSU to strike -patient care neglected!

(May 29, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) The All Ceylon Health Services Union (ACHSU) accused the Health Ministry of negligence and inefficiency.

The ECHSU resident, Kumarasinghe said, by the Ministry taking no action to fill the existing vacancies for attendants at the Colombo National Hospital, patient care problems have multiplied, as attendants are extremely vital for the patient care process.

The Union said that though 682 attendants were recruited in 2006, the Govt. indifference, by appointing only 413, and not following up with the balance appointments has caused this problem.

The ACHSU is to stage a protest rally opposite the Health Ministry, and if this does not produce results, stronger Trade Union action will be resorted to, it added.
