Hizbullah takes oaths

(May 22, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) M.L.A.M. Hizbullah who contested the Eastern Provincial Council Election under the United People’s Freedom Alliance (UPFA) took oaths as the Minister of Health, Youth and Women's Affairs this morning.

His taking oath was due for yesterday and it had been postponed to this morning. The Temple Trees sources said that he took oaths this morning before President Mahinda Rajapaksa at Temple Trees.

Hizbullah contested the elections representing the Batticalo district and in the preferential list he was the third with 35, 949 votes. UPFA had won six seats in the Batticalo district while United National Party secured four seats and one by the TDNA.
