Australian High Commissioner meets JVP Leader

(May 22, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) “A special discussion between JVP Leader Somawansa Amarasinghe and Ms Kathy Klugman, High Commissioner of Australia to Sri Lanka was held at the Head office of the JVP at Pelawatta yesterday (21st) morning, said in an official statement released by the JVP.

According to the statement received by Sri Lanka Guardian, “the JVP leader presented the road map for the establishment of peace and democracy after solving the national question in Sri Lanka that is being discussed in the Central Committee of the JVP to the High Commissioner states a media statement issued by the party.”

“All those talk of devolution don’t have a sufficient knowledge of devolution the JVP Leader has said and has pointed out that administration should be completely decentralized to find solutions for questions that crop up daily. Regarding land powers Mr. Amarasinghe has stated that ‘Village Council’ which is the most sensitive institution regarding land or a similar institution should be given powers.”

“This was the first meeting Ms. Kathy Klugman had with the JVP after being appointed the High Commissioner to Sri Lanka. Parliamentarian Sunil Handunneththi too participated at the discussion.”
