Shanthan arrested again

(May 07, London, Sri Lanka Guardian) Scotland Yard investigators arrested LTTE’s head in London Arunachalam Chrishanthakumar alias Shanthan this morning at his sister’s residence in Swindon. Shanthan is believed to be arrested based on the information gathered following arrest of three important LTTE men last week.

Shanthan was released on conditional bail at the High Court following his previous arrest and one of the bail conditions is for him to reside at his sisters house in Swindon.

The police arrested Jagatheeswaran Muraleetharan, Murugesu Jegatheeswaran (brothers) and Vijitharan on terrorism charges last week in a coordinated operation. A ten pin bowling alley is said to be run by Jegatheeswaran Muraleetharan and his wife Devika in Montgomeryshire in Wales with the funds of the LTTE. The bowling club was opened on April 5, this year with big local media publicity for the opening ceremony.

Sources close to LTTE also confirmed that the LTTE’s printing press Vasan Printers based in Mitcham, South London was raided by the police last week.

In a further development the LTTE sources have confirmed that the LTTE funded massive wholesale business Valvai Cash & Carry business based in Croydon has closed down its operations for some unknown reasons. (06/05/2008)
