Mahinda Rajapakse on Tiger hit list – Sivajilingam, TNA MP in Australia

“Balasingham Prabhakara of the Inpath Tamil Vanoli is a noted broadcaster who carries virulent campaigns against the Sinhalese. He is seen as the Voice of the Vanni. Serious complaints have bee lodged against him with the Police for threatening people. He is backed by the noted pro-Tiger Dr. Mana Mohan of Sydney. The Sydney Tamil Coordinating Committee funds him.”

(June 30, Melbourne, Sri Lanka Guardian) N. Sivajlingam, Jaffna District TNA, MP allied to the Tigers, was grilled by angry Tamil expatriates in Australia on Inbath Tamil Vanali, a talk-back radio show in Sydney last Friday.

Sivajilingam was former member of TELO and narrowly escaped a death squad of the Tamil Tigers. But his leader Sabaratnam, a rival to Prabhakaran, was liquidated.

He was reminded on the talk-back radio of what happened to his leader and asked why he is backing the Tamil Tigers. Sivailingam dodged the issue by asking whether he was for Thamil Eelam.

Another questioner asked why the TNA candidates refused to contest the Eastern Province elections. Sivajilingam said that it was because they do not recognize the East as a separate province from the North. If we contested it would have been seen as TNA accepting the division of the east from the north.

Then the questioner had shot back asking: “Then why are you in the Sri Government parliament? Are you in it to get your pension?”

Sivajilingam also came under fire for the colossal blunders of Prabhakaran. One questioner asked why did you kill Rajiv Gandhi?

This line of questioning upset Sivailingam. He was sweating and had asked for a glass of water to cool him down. To cover up the failings of the Tigers and to ward off hostile questions he had also implied that President Mahinda Rajapakse is on the hit list of the Tigers.

Sivajilingam is in Australia to promote Pongu Thamil (Tamil Resurgence) gathering at the Melbourne City Square. Pongu Thamil is supposed to celebrate the resurgence of the Tamil language and culture. But in reality behind this cultural façade is the political goal of raising funds and promoting the lone-man cult of Prabhakaran. Tamil MPs have been sent to western capitals to promote Pongu Thamil. Gajendra Ponnambalam is in Germany while others have gone to other capitals.

Pongu Thamil will be held on July 5 in Melbourne. Sivajilingam was sent by the Tigers to strengthen the hand of the new Tiger agent, S. Sabesan, a public servant working in the Tax Department. He has been appointed to run the Tiger outfit in Australia after the death of Thillai Jeyakumar who died of a heart attack late last year.

Tamil radio stations are in the front line of raising funds for Tiger terrorists. It is a gold mine for Tamil broadcasters to glorify internationally banned Tamil Tiger Velupillai Prabhakaraandraise funds. Glorification of terrorism is banned under international law.

Often the radio stations in Melbourne and Sydney are open to Tamil Tiger leaders in the Vanni who come oline regularly to plead for funds by glorifying the terror tactics of the Tamil Tigers. These stations have a free run because the broadcasts are in Tamil and there is no one to monitor the daily pro-Tamil Tiger propaganda.

In addition to raising funds and glorifying terrorism the broadcasters pass on veiled threats to those who do not toe the LTTE line. The threats are aimed at twisting the arms of those AustraliaTamils who have relatives back in the Vanni areas. Some of the leading radio stations are 3ZZZ, Inbath Tamil Vanoli, Australian Tamil Broadcasting in Sydney and 3CR in Melbourne. These stations are monopolized by the pro-Tiger broadcasters who refuse to give air time to the opposition. Their voices are cut out even in talk-back sessions.

They get their propaganda line fed to them directly from the Vanni – the headquarters of the Tamil Tigers.. They are frequently interviewed and Tiger terrorist leaders make direct appeal to the Tamils in Australia saying that the Vanni regime survives only because of Australian contributions. “We are fighting the Sinhala enemy which must be eliminated. Our boys and girls are fighting the Sinhala enemy,” are some of the statements.

These broadcasts against Sinhalese can also be considered as racial vilification which can lead to tensions between Sinhala and Tamil communities in Australia. But they get away with it because these broadcasts are in Tamil and there is no one to monitor violations of broadcasting guidelines. These radio stations are competing with each other to curry favour with Vanni leadership. They compete with others to praise the Vanni leadership covering up facts about the suffering of Tamil people oppressed by the one-man regime in Vanni.

Balasingham Prabhakara of the Inpath Tamil Vanoli is a noted broadcaster who carries virulent campaigns against the Sinhalese. He is seen as the Voice of the Vanni. Serious complaints have bee lodged against him with the Police for threatening people. He is backed by the noted pro-Tiger Dr. Mana Mohan of Sydney. The Sydney Tamil Coordinating Committee funds him.

When Thillai Jeyakumar, the Godfather of Tamil Tigers died othe eve of his being arrested by the Federal Police, radio stations ran continuous programs to raise funds saying that it was for a blood bank iin Vanni., Australia Tamil Broadcasting in Sydney was trying to be more pro-LTTE than Balasingham Pirabaha Inbath Thamil Vanoli .Also the Tiger controlled 3ZZZ iMelbourne raised funds for the legal battle to save the two Tamil Tiger agents facing trial for engaging in terrorist activity. Arrora Vignanmoorthy and Sivaraja Yathavan, were arrested by the Police for supporting terrorism on Australian soil.

The moderate Tamils who are worried about their image being tarnished as terrorists are privately insisting that the Australian government should be more pro-active in monitoring these broadcasts. The SBS which was also pro-Tiger under Jay Maheswarawan was forced to give translations of their broadcasts in English. This put an end to the openly pro-Tiger propaganda. The silent Tamils who are silently rebelling against the politics of the radio stations are demanding that some restrictions should be imposed on broadcasters to observe the guidelines.
