Minister Alexei Borodavkin holds consultations with Kokona


(June 19, Moscow, Sri Lanka Guardian) Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Alexei Borodavkin on June 17 held consultations with Sri Lanka Foreign Secretary Dr. Palitha Kohona.

During the consultations, a thorough exchange of views took place on the current state of, and prospects for Russian-Sri Lankan relations. The sides noted with satisfaction both the high level of bilateral political dialogue and the positive dynamics of mutually advantageous cooperation in a whole array of growth areas.

The invariable similarity of the sides’ approaches towards the key issues in world and regional politics was reaffirmed and the importance of strengthening the UN's central role in world affairs and building a multipolar world order based on the rule of international law was noted. The sides accentuated attention to the need for a consistent and resolute struggle against international terrorism in all its forms and manifestations.

The consultations have borne out the mutual keenness of the sides on building on the regular inter-MFA dialogue and on reinforcing the coordination of efforts and cooperation between Russia and Sri Lanka within the UN and other international forums of which they are members.
