Rama Want To Game

(June 25, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) UNP Katana organizer, Ranjan Ramanayake has informed the UNP that he is willing to contest for the Sabaragamuwa province Chief Minister post in the upcoming provincial elections.

He had informed this following the refusal by Upul Shantha Sannasgala who was to be the UNP contestant for the post.

Mr. Ramanayake said that he has no issues in contesting and assured that the popularity he has among the general public as a renowned actor and as a politician who has been concerned in various issues especially on the plight of the housemaids working in the Middle East, would definitely help him to hold a CM post.

He said although he has informed his willingness the final decision would be taken by the Working Committee of the UNP on Monday.

Meanwhile the JVP Wednesday officially announced its chief ministerial candidates and district leaders for the North Central and Sabaragamuwa provincial council elections.

Member of Parliament Wasantha Samarasinghe will contest as the NCP Chief Minister while serving as the Anuradhapura district leader while President of the student union of the JVP, Chameera Koswatta will contest as the Sabaragamuwa CM while being the Kegalle district leader.
