Sri Lankan fishermen held


(June 23, Chennai, Sri Lanka Guardian) Indian Coast Guard took into custody five Sri Lankan fishermen who trespassed into Indian waters for fishing.

The Coast Guard personnel were keeping watch at the boundary when they encountered the fishermen, who were encircled and caught.

The picked-up men were handed over to the Kasimedu police this morning. Police inspector Sabhanandam interrogated them.

The police identified them as Peraira (50), M Peraira (35), Joseph (22), Suresh (30) and Rajeev (35) from Colombo.

Cases have registered against the fishermen.
