(June 03, Chennai, Sri Lanka Guardian) President of Janata Party Dr. Subramanian Swamy has said that he was going to implead himself in the appeal made by Nalini, a convict in the Rajiv Gandhi assassination case, seeking early release from prison.

Speaking to the press, Swamy said the Supreme Court itself had stated in its verdict that she should not be shown mercy just because she was a women or a mother of a child.

But her death sentence has been reduced to life sentence in an illegal manner.

Now she had filed a petition in the court asking for an early release, he said.

‘Since the government would not oppose the plea effectively I had decided to file a suit in the court asking it to recognise myself as an interested party in the case’ said Swamy.

He also said that he had written a letter to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh urging him to announce the Ram Sethu site as national heritage spot.

Swamy said that he had cassettes to prove the irregularities committed by 20 Ministers and Chief Minister Karunanidhi and added that he would release them at the appropriate time.

He also demanded the resignation of Union Finance Minister P Chidambaram as he was not able to control the price rise.
