Disgraceful LTTE supporting Tamil Diaspora

“The people in LTTE controlled Vanni and in other parts of Sri Lanka want peace to piece together their lives. But they have been subjugated by the violent dictates of the LTTE and the government and the LTTE supporting Tamil Diaspora is one of the major causes for this predicament. There may be genuine reasons for them to give this unmitigated support as they too were victims of the systematic and ongoing policy of the successive Sri Lankan governments to prevent empowering the Tamil people to be part of cohesive Sri Lanka.”

(July 24, London, Sri Lanka Guardian) Having embroiled in the Sri Lankan politics ever since circumstances pulled me in to it during my young age, I have engaged with the determination and the underline desire to gain the denied political rights of the Tamil people in Sri Lanka. The democratic agitation of the Tamils eventually led to an armed struggle and as the time passed the very same armed struggle has changed into a mammoth human swallowing machinery and is even preying its own people.

The so called liberation struggle spearheaded by the LTTE has now reached a stage of anarchy for the Tamil people. Tamil people in the LTTE and the government controlled areas in Sri Lanka have no freedom as their way of life is being dictated by the guns rather than real political will of the people. It is unfortunate that our people are under subjugation by the so-called liberators and state armed forces for such a long period. I can recall my uncle Late Rev D J Kanagaratnam (former Archdeacon of Jaffna) writing to me in the late 80’s stating that ‘end for the plight of Tamil people is like bottomless pit’. Almost twenty years have passed and still the light at the end cannot be seen.

I have on many occasions raised in my writings that the violent struggle spearheaded by the LTTE is a proxy war of the section of Tamil Diaspora. It is worthwhile to analyse the selfish and deceptive mindsets of this section of the Diaspora as it is proving to be the major hindrance that is preventing the LTTE to change its track to mitigate its stand.

Thirty years of armed struggle has achieved nothing for the Tamils. Instead, degeneration, dilapidation and disintegration of the Tamil society have reached an alarming stage. A passive and a respectable society have turned into a never ending violent society. Violence, intimidation, threats, gutter mindset etc have become inherent part of life and is ruling the society.

The people in LTTE controlled Vanni and in other parts of Sri Lanka want peace to piece together their lives. But they have been subjugated by the violent dictates of the LTTE and the government and the LTTE supporting Tamil Diaspora is one of the major causes for this predicament. There may be genuine reasons for them to give this unmitigated support as they too were victims of the systematic and ongoing policy of the successive Sri Lankan governments to prevent empowering the Tamil people to be part of cohesive Sri Lanka.

But the saddest reality is that the LTTE supporting Tamil Diaspora is very selfish and must be considered as a very protective lot. Apart from giving their blank cheques to this group to extend its violence, they play no political role in the decision making of the LTTE. They play a subservient role for the LTTE to score their hatred towards the Sri Lankan government and the Sinhala society. They do not feel and do not wish to know the suffering of our people and the Sinhala people are enduring in the dictates of their patron saint LTTE.

Apart from funding the LTTE and assembling to give unquestionable support to the group, interaction by marriage of this diaspora section with the suffering Tamil people in the north and east are limited and have not surfaced out so far.

When I think of some of the front line activists of the LTTE in the UK, their selfishness to promote the LTTE has not in any way reflected in their personal or family lives to engage heart to heart with the LTTE. Except for giving some personal and financial support, these elements do not extend any further.

Can any LTTE supporter give statistical evidence that the LTTE supporting Diaspora activists are down to earth and have extended their hands to the LTTE with bunches of flowers to marry the injured or ex-LTTE cadres who can no longer fight a war. Thirty years of war in Sri Lanka has produced a second generation of Tamils in the diaspora. Can anyone having some knowledge pin point and tell us that the sons and daughters of these activists have flown to Sri Lanka to marry the so called hero’s of the LTTE in Vanni.

It is not my intention to name those LTTE activists who have subscribed to the extremist Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) policy of assimilation of Tamils with the Sinhalese by marriage to create a new society in Sri Lanka to bring about permanent peace there. The JVP leaders and activists are still to prove they are following this policy.

As regards the diaspora LTTE supporters, many of them have married to host of partners belonging to the cross section of the international community. Even their children have no interest in the LTTE politics and have married to partners from non Tamil diverse international community. I know many activists and their children who have married to Sinhalese, Indians, Russians, Finnish, Filipino’s, English etc and am still waiting to find one activist or his child marring an LTTE cadre.

I appeal to the LTTE activists to start a marriage bureau to introduce the ex-LTTE cadres to the diaspora Tamil community as I have seen some of the LTTE front websites giving publicity to western marriage bureaus for their viewers.

Where RJ got this stupid idea of marriages and it only shows how his warped mind works.
One can only marry with the one he is in love and this is alifetime commitment. If we are sympathetic we can help and assist the injured freedom fighters. But to ask marry, I thin he is talking through his hat and hope he has better things to do.

RJ, you are loosing the plot. Totally agree with the last bolgger, Siva, love has nothing to do with colour, religon or language. You want LTTE supporting Thamils to practice positive racism? Did you raise this issue with your fellow LTTE supporters when you were on LTTE payroll? I guess not. You’re beginning to sound like Karuna, Pillian and Co.
