SAARC Summit's victory depends on peace in the region!

- Virakesari Editorial

(July 29, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) 15th SARRC Summit has commenced. The development, economic development, poverty eradication and business relations of the South Asian Countries were discussed in the SARRC summit.

It is said many agreements are going to be signed at this summit. It is expected that the Summit will address issues relating to the eradication of terrorism, maintaining cultural values, co-ordination of commercial and economic development and poverty eradication.

Main hurdles to the progress of SARRC countries are civil war and poverty. Since large sums of money are allocated to security and development is ignored. As a result economy is badly affected and there is rampant poverty.

Since a political solution has not been found to the national conflict and dragged on, large sums of money are allocated. Hundred, thousands of people have become refugees. At the same time, people are unable to have even one full meal a day due to high cost of living.

If a political solution can be found to the national conflict, this country will develop as an example to other countries. It is the expectation of the people of this region that SARRC countries without any difference must work together to improve the standard of living of the people, eradicate poverty and find peace in the SARRC region.
