Government’s statement that it dispatched foods to Vanni is not true

(September 26, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) Mavai Senathirajah, TNA parliamentarian speaking in the Sri Lankan Parliament told that there is hardly any truth in the Government’s statement that it dispatched food commodities to Vanni.

He appealed to the Parliament to ensure that the humanitarian mission of dispatching food is accomplished.

Addressing the House, he charged that the people of Vanni face starvation following the continuance of the war. Food commodities have not reached Vanni. Under the guise of fighting terrorism, the people are killed.

He concluded that the economy of the country can be built up only by restoring peace by recognizing right to self determination of the Tamils and by ending the war.
