Karunanithy blunders!

– The Sudar Oli Editorial

(September 26, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian)
Dr.Ramadas, the Leader of Pattali Makkal Katchi, has very vociferously demanded that Dr.Karunanithy, the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister should not observe calculated silence over the acts of genocide committed by the government of Sri Lanka against Lankan Tamils without any concern for innocent lives.

He further demanded that Dr.Karunanithy must demand the Indian central government to caution the Lankan government for its genocidal acts against the Tamil people.

TN Chief Minister acts and speaks as though nothing untoward was happening to the Tamil people. Perhaps, he is cowed down by the opposition he had to face following his penning a few lines mourning the death of Tamilchelvan, former LTTE political wing leader.

Knowledgeable circles say that he is over cautious that his support for Tamil people of Sri Lanka could be construed as support for the LTTE by his opponents causing serious embarrassment to him and his state government.

Dr.Karunanithy, who observers a stony silence today, vehemently stated that there must be a s separate Tamilnadu for Tamils when he was in the opposition.

In fact, he put forward a five point formula on the following basis:-

* Support the establishment of Tamil Eelam.
* Secure permanent rights to Tamils.
* Ensure the security of the Tamils
To offer asylum to Lankan Tamils
* To make whatever sacrifice needed.

It has been exposed that Indian military personnel are directly involved in the war unleashed by Sri Lankan government.

The Central Government in Delhi depends heavily on the support of the DMK for its survival and therefore Dr.Karunanithy is in a position to exert pressure and guide the Indian government to act in an appropriate manner.

As a partner of the Congress government in power, Dr.Karunanithy has accountability for the direct involvement of Indian military officers in the war unleashed by the Lankan govt.
