Demonstration against the on going War Effort in Sri Lanka in Berlin

(October 11, Berlin, Sri Lanka Guardian) A demonstration against any war should be good; however, this war is between the terrorist organization, the LTTE (also known as Tamil Tigers) and the Government of Sri Lanka, which has been raging with varying intensity for more than 25 years. This long struggle between the successive democratically elected governments and the separatist terrorists has already claimed more than 70,000 innocent lives. Victims have been people from all ethnic groups living in Sri Lanka, i.e. Tamils, Singhalese, Muslims, Burgers, Malays who are Christians, Buddhists and Hindus. In short, this war has not spared any particular race or religious group.

Hence, this demonstration is in support of a terrorist organization, who commits atrocities against the very people whom they are supposed to salvage. That makes this demonstration lose its credibility.

Today's demonstration, however, has a distinctive feature: it is being organised by the TCC - Tamil Coordinating Committee – in Oberhausen Germany (organiser of the demonstration), a front organisation of the LTTE - Tamil Tigers!

The Sri Lankan terrorist group, Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE), also known as the "Tamil Tigers", is proscribed for its continued use of terrorism against the civil population of Sri Lanka, in 31 countries worldwide, including the countries of the EU. The LTTE terrorists collect 300 million US dollars, annually, worldwide to fund its terror campaigns in Sri Lanka. It maintains numerous front organisations worldwide, under the guise of humanitarian organizations, to collect money.

There have been serious allegations to TCC (Tamil Coordinating Committee), the TRO (Tamil Rehabilitation Organization), the TYO (Tamil Youth Organization) and number of other front organisations to their nefarious activities and their uncomfortable brushes with the law. Due to this reason these organisations are partly banned in some countries; recently in France and Canada too.

Many unsuccessful attempts were made to reach a peaceful solution through negotiations with the LTTE. However, their sheer lack of interest was obvious, when they provoked the Sri Lankan Government into launching a fresh offensive with a determined effort to end almost 25 years of ongoing terrorism in Sri Lanka. The Sri Lankan army has gained significant victories over the LTTE and captured most of the territory formerly held by the terrorists. The offensives launched by the Sri Lankan Government was essential at last since, a democratically elected government cannot allow a part of the country and the population to be controlled by a terrorist group.

The vehement claim by the LTTE of being the “Sole Representative of the Tamil People” has become the height of absurdity, since, the Tamil civilians from the north are held against their wishes, under the jackboot of the LTTE, to be used as human shields against the advancing government troops. These civilians are not allowed to leave the war zone, into safe areas declared by the Sri Lankan government, with protection, food and shelter.
The Catholic Bishops’ Conference, the UN, the UK and many international humanitarian organisations have repeatedly appealed to the LTTE to free these civilians.

The LTTE, however, is heading to none. The LTTE has deliberately created a refugee issue for the Western world and the media to see, in order to get the support of the international community, to pressuring the Sri Lankan Government to end this offensive against them.

The TCC, the Tamil Coordinating Committee, based in Oberhausen Germany, has been recognised as supporting the LTTE, by the German agencies for the protection of internal security (Der Verfassungschutz - Constitutional Protection Authority). http://www.verfassungsschutz.de/download/SHOW/vsbericht_2007.pdf

The TCC from Oberhausen in its capacity as the organizer of today's demonstration in Berlin must therefore accept to be accused as a front organisation of the LTTE until proof to the contrary is provided.

If the Tamil Coordinating Committee (TCC) wants to be taken seriously with its concern of “stopping the war in Sri Lanka”, then they should:

1) Urge the LTTE to allow all the civilians held against their will, to leave the battle area

2) Urge their leader Prabhakaran to stop the senseless killings immediately.

3) Because the TCC in Oberhause, is declaring to be speaking for the Sri Lankan Tamils, it should explain to the German people How many Tamil politicians, Tamil intellectuals and Tamil human rights activists were murdered by the LTTE during the last 25 years and, most importantly, Why?

4) Why does the LTTE continue to recruit children into their ranks?

The LTTE, which use Stalinist and Nazi approaches and claim to be the sole representative of the Sri Lankan Tamils, must explain to Germany and the world why they want to achieve their goals by the use of arms rather than letting themselves be elected democratically by the Tamil people? The LTTE claims to be the single most popular and the most preferred Tamil Unit, in existence, if this claim is correct then they will have no difficulty in winning elections in Sri Lanka.

Similar counterfeit protests of fronts have taken place recently, in London and Copenhagen. The police dispersed the crowds gathered for a demonstration in Denmark, when they found out that some Tamil activists had used the event to collect money for the LTTE terrorists, in a bid to assist them in their “final battle”, proclaimed by the LTTE Supremo, Prabhakaran.

We hope that the peace-loving people, politicians and the media in Germany will not be driven to a corner or feel pressurised by the skilful propaganda of a terrorist organisation and its supporting organisation from Oberhausen.

The Terror war in Sri Lanka can only be stopped through fighting the LTTE and exposing its front organisations activities abroad!
