Govt condemns attack on Sirasa Media Complex

(January 06, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) The Government strongly condemns the attack on the Sirasa media complex in Depanama, Pannipitiya, early this morning.

Soon after the attack, President Mahinda Rajapaksa ordered a full investigation into the incident and called on the Inspector General of Police to apprehend the culprits and bring them to court.

Meanwhile, Minister of Mass Media and Information, Anura Priyadharshana Yapa, also condemned the attack and called the IGP to initiate a probe into the incident.

The Minister further said that it appears that the incident was deliberately designed to bring the Government into disrepute at a time when the security forces are successfully engaged in ridding the country of the terrorist menace.
