Norway has erred immensely

Eric Soldheim unashamedly promoted the interests of the Tiger terrorists and Norway's ulterior motives seeking domination in South Asia.

(February 16, Kandy, Sri Lanka Guardian) After a period of silence I saw Norway raising its concerned voice about Sri Lankan matters on this website Sri Lanka Guardian.

Talking to this website just a few days ago Norway's prominent peace horse Erik Solhheim has said "I am very sorry the situation in Sri Lanka has become so extreme. It is a bloodbath in which tens or hundreds are killed every day, and it's going from bad to worse."

It is really amazing what a short memory Norway has on the Sri Lankan conflict.

I wonder whether these bouts of amnesia Norway suffers; from time to time is deliberate, self inflicted or genuine.

Let me refresh your memory briefly, Norway:

In July and August of 1985 began the first ever 'peace talks' between the Government of Sri Lanka (GoSL) and the LTTE, in Thimpu, Bhutan. These talks took place freshly after the LTTE went on one of their 'killing sprees', killing 146 innocent civilians who have come to worship the Sacred Bo Tree, in Anuradhapura.

Thimpu talks set a trend to the LTTE's infamous conduct of using the 'cease fire' period to militarily strengthen itself, and going on to violate the cease fire agreement without any shame or conscience.

The LTTE also gradually obliterated all the other Tamil militant groups who took part in the Thimpu Talks, within a span of about five years.

A cease fire declared by the GoSL in 1987 was most heinously violated by the LTTE, when they murdered 120 civilian passengers in a bus, in Polonnaruwa.

In October the same year, after the Indo-Lanka peace accord was signed, the LTTE went on to slaughter 225 civilians in the Eastern coast of Sri Lanka, allegedly pretending to surrender their arms to the Indian Peace Keeping Forces.

In June 1990 the LTTE committed a most monstrous deed by taking over a police station in Batticaloa, Sri Lanka and abducting and killing 600 unarmed police personnel who had surrendered to them. This ended another cease fire which has lasted 14 months.

It is no secret that the peace talks which took place during President Kumaratunga's time was advantageously and effectively utilized by the LTTE to procure arms and ammunition and recruit cadres to their ranks. However, they walked out of these peace talks once they had done their military replenishments to their hearts' content.

The CFA signed during Ranil Wickremesinghe's premiership during 2002 with your blessings was one of the most violated and ridiculed ones by the LTTE. During your facilitator days they violated the CFA agreement over 4176 times as against 276 violations from the government side. They recruited over 7763 new cadres during this time, procured more than six ship loads of arms and ammunition, according to foreign and local intelligence reports.

Do you not remember how they traveled all the way to Oslo in June 2006 for peace talks and never sat to have them, citing numerous excuses? How about what they did right after returning home? On the 15th of June 2006 they attacked a bus load of innocent civilians in Kabithigollawa, murdering 64, including 12 children, and injuring 75 others. They even pursued and shot at the people who managed to get out of the bus and run.

What more reminders do you need to be convinced that, the LTTE is not serious about peace talks.. It is not that you don't know about these atrocities committed over and over again by the LTTE, and that megalomaniac, Prabhakaran, in your attempts to white wash the LTTE, you just choose to ignore them, isn't it?

"Norway condemns the ongoing warfare in Sri Lanka and the unacceptable suffering of civilians," your Foreign Minister Jonas Gahr Store said in a statement. 27.01.09.

"Everything must be done to prevent the suffering of the population. We receive messages that the number of civilian casualties is growing and that refugees are caught in the crossfire," Solheim added.05.02.09

I would like to ask Norway to 'just mind your own business', because any type of advice from you is unsolicitous, since you have created enough trouble and sorrow in our country.. The majority of the Sri Lankans and the GoSL has no faith or trust in you as peace makers!

Your actions have proved to all of us in Sri Lanka that you are peace breakers!

You are responsible for the failure of Ranil Wickramasinghe, becoming the President! (Thank you for that!!!)

After senselessly slaughtering many Sinhalese and Muslim civilians and ethnic ceansing in the past, now the LTTE has turned on the very people whom they are allegedly, solely representing, who are now fleeing the areas controlled by them. Just last Tuesday10th they shot and killed 18 civilians who tried to flee the LTTE controlled areas. What has Norway to say about that? We have not heard a word of condemnation from Norway regarding these incidents.

This long standing romance between the LTTE and Norway was evident to us the Sri Lankans, when Ambassador Westborg said "Prabhakaran's application would certainly be considered" (http://www.sinhaya.com/norway.htm ) regarding Prabhakaran's entry into Norway. Oh Norway!! This is a man wanted by the Interpol for the murder of two world leaders and a man who has been served with a 200 year prison sentence, have you no conscience?

During the CFA, President Kumaratunga had sought the removal of Maj. Gen. (retd.) Tellefsen's, head of the Sri Lanka Monitoring Mission (SLMM) based on a communication to her by the Navy Commander, that the Navy could not apprehend a suspected LTTE boat as the SLMM had asked the Tigers about the presence of one of their vessels.

In her letter to Mr. Bondevik, the Norwegian Premier she had said: "the impartiality and objectivity of Maj. Gen. Tellefsen in discharging his duties under the ceasefire agreement have caused serious doubts".

If not for the SLMM headed by Norway turning a blind eye towards the LTTE's arms smuggling how could they have received over 6 ship loads of military equipment during the CFA?

The high-tech radio equipment which were provided courtesy of the Royal Norwegian Embassy in Colombo, to the LTTE in the pretext of equipping the LTTE peace secretariat, strengthened their propaganda machine.The LTTE propaganda, as all the rational people in this world are aware, are defamatory, malicious and focused on rousing racial hatred. Apart from the fact that you are guilty of supporting the most dangerous terrorist organisation in the world, you are also culpable of plotting against the democratically appointed government of Sri Lanka.

Norway, also allegedly contributed to the training of LTTE's Sea Tigers in the seas of Thailand the IPS news service reported. There are videos posted on the World Wide Web which is evidence enough to prove the above fact. It is quite evident that Norway is hell bent on creating mayhem in countries like Sri Lanka. We have not forgotten what a mess you made in Gaza, and what makes you think that we also want to be in the same mess as Gaza? Or even Somalia ?

Norwegian financial institutions don't check whether money flows from Norway to known terror organizations such as Hamas, ETA or the Tamil Tigers. Norwegian authorities haven't required them to do so…Nina Berglund, Aftenposten- Norway.

Get your own laws straight, so that you are not assisting and propagating terrorism in the world.That is the biggest contribution you can do to world peace.

Your bias towards the LTTE during the time you played facilitator in the Sri Lankan peace process in 2002-2004 period was evident from your conduct then, and facts given above prove this beyond any doubt. What more should we want with you or your advice? Did you even for a moment think when you supported the LTTE that, they were the most dangerous terrorist outfit in existence? They introduced suicide bombing to this world, for God's sake!! Wake up from your hibernation!

Answer me one question where were you with your sanctimonious advice when the LTTE recruit child soldiers and fixes bombs in 12 year olds and blows them off with a remote control to stop the military from advancing on their territory? Where is the norwagian Childrens Organisation Red Baana talking on these matters? Do these actions of the LTTE tally with your Red Baana's ideals?

Since, the Sri Lankan military started advancing in on the LTTE held areas, we have been seeing, on Television, on a daily basis the advanced facilities and military equipment they had possessed. All or most of them have been facilitated with the funds of the Tamil Diaspora and the advanced technology or the equipment itself has come from the West.

Of late you seem to be supporting a number of Buddhist organisations on one side and on the other carrying out a mud campaign against the democratically elected executive of our country. Well, we can quite empathise with you, this has been so from the time you realised that he cannot be fooled like you fooled Ranil Wickramasinghe. Your main partner in crime is, Germany. You think the people of Sri Lanka are so foolish as not to understand your lobbying work against the GoSL, behind the scenes with the EU members?

Norway, your slip is showing, and we know the absurdity of your cheating peace maker attempts!

According to the Charter of the UN, Article 2.4… All Members shall refrain in their international relations from the threat or use of force against the territorial integrity or political independence of any state, or in any other manner inconsistent with the Purposes of the United Nations.

Isn't it a shame that all these countries who aid and abate these separatist movements are members of the UN?

Norway, you have no moral right to put your vicious finger in our affairs or even to make statements. A part of what we as civilians are made to endure because of 30 years of internal conflict, in this paradise island is because of your meddling in it.

Finally, we are able to see some white doves flying in the horizon, therefore just shut up and please keep out!

We will solve our problems in the best way suited to us.

Sri Lanka may be a poor country but we are not a nation of fools.

Please remember that !

You had your chance and you mucked it up.

So,shut up and just keep quiet in the name of humanity!

One of the countries that stabbed the Tamils behind the back and duped the Tamil speaking minority Muslims is Norway and the group of Norwegian politicians who deceived the sincere and honest Sri Lankans who dreamt for sustainable PEACE in Sri Lanka.
The story of the past has been well told in this article, but the Government of Sri Lanka should be very cautious about the Norwegians getting once again involved in Sri Lankan, specially in the North and Eastern Provinces.
The Norwegians will try to creep into the North through the five Welfare Village program by volunteering to fund it through their NGO arms of FORUT, Red Barna (Save the Children, Norway), Folke Hjelp (Peoples Aid) etc., to gain a foothold again.

The Government and the Security Forces should be very careful NOT to allow Norway get involved in these programs. Sad to say, but their are still Norwegian Agents and front operatives still in the HE. Mahinda Rajapaksa cabinet who had been well taken care of during their times with the UNP governments. One such politician who is already holding a cabinet ministry from Kandy was even named a Deputy Minister to an important Ministry held by HE. Mahinda Rajapaksa and another Norwegian political agent, a former GA of Jaffna, diplomat and bureaucrat was appointed as an Ambassador to an important European capital recently. Like the Nazi war criminals, these guys have made it sure that their past conspiracies and identities are hidden and the HE.Mahinda Rajapaks regime does not come to know about their past dealings. The truth of these conspirators will come out soon.

AS the LTTE faces imminent and irreversible defeat, the usual predators have begun to lurk in the background. It is no secret that Sri Lanka's troubles had their beginning, and reached its maturity with the covert assistance of some individuals, non-governmental organizations, and even nations who at all times exploited our tolerance and democratic values to hurt us.

To the average Sri Lankan, Eric Solheim is no stranger. The Norwegian who has been a shadowy presence in and around places where Sri Lanka's destiny was decided, has had a hand in most of her misfortunes. Though it may be difficult to prove, this man would be considered by most to be guilty of providing opportunities for the Tamil Tigers over the past couple of decades which helped build the terror group into a formidable force and caused death and immense destruction in Sri Lanka. During all those years, Solheim and his Norwegian entourage have been very adept at portraying themselves essentially as peace-makers and earned a level of recognition in the world that is essentially meant for the likes of Mahatma Gandhi. Solheim may have fooled the world, but the Sri Lankan on the street knows he is no friend to us or our country.
