Tiger commissar wants China to reconsider

(March 21, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) A former constable of the Sri Lankan Police and later Constable General of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam headquartered in Kilinochchi and now the terror group’s political head or commissar or whatever he calls himself, B Nadesan wants China to give consideration to what he calls as the plight of the Tamils in Sri Lanka.

Unless this news item was doctored by Tamilnet, he must be one of the few Tiger leaders cowering behind innocent civilians whom his terror gang is holding as human shields.

The Tamilnet, LTTE’s international media fraud, quoted him thus: "We urge China, Russia and all the powers of the world not to ignore the plight of the civilians who face a genocidal war by the Sri Lankan state." It seems when he contacted Tamilnet he was told that according to reports that China was not in favour of a second UN Security Council meeting on Sri Lanka."

China vetoed the motion stating that it was purely an internal security matter and what is happening in Sri Lanka does not affect the rest of the world. China's stand is appreciated and this country has been a great friend of Sri Lanka. Who can forget the Rice-Rubber Pact of 1953 when China came to the help of Sri Lanka and this is still in effect. .

When the Tigers are the ones holding thousands of civilians as hostages and are determined to deny access to food, medicines and humanitarian supplies and worse, shooting at those trying to escape and conscripting children into their forces, B Nadesan has the temerity to accuse the government of genocide against the Tamils.

He claims that 70 million Tamils are concerned about their beleaguered brethren. But these are the people held as human shields by the LTTE. And he expects the world to react in their favour. This could very well be a concocted story of Tamilnet but it is also quite a likely claim of LTTE’s political commissar with whom one has to be sympathize for the very reason that if the LTTE fails to surrender, he will have to pay the ultimate price.

If the LTTE is still living in the hope that it will get a chance to wriggle out of the current trap and achieve ceasefire, it must surely be hoping for the impossible. Terrorism of any kind is unacceptable anywhere but the Tiger terrorism should never be shown any mercy whatsoever.

It has broken the back of the very people it claimed to represent and its ways have been genocidal against them. It is an evil force of monstrous proportions and sooner it is rid the better it is for the Tamils in particular, Sri Lankan in general and the world as a whole.
