(April 20,Matara, Sri Lanka Guardian) A suspect in connection with the murders of two children in Akmeemana was killed in police fire early this morning.
The suspect had attempted to lob a hand grenade at the police party accompanying him to a location in Gonamulla in order to recover several weapons hidden in the area.
The suspect had succumbed to his injuries on admission to Karapitiya Teaching Hospital, police said.
The two children, a ten-year-old girl and a three-year-old boy, went missing on Wednesday (15th) at Nugekanda in Akmeemana. The girl’s body was found on Saturday and the boy’s on Sunday. -Sri Lanka Guardian
