(April 28, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) Addressing a media briefing today (28Apr) at the UNP media unit , UNP M.P. Dr. Jayalath Jayawardena said , the Government has not made any preparations to protect and look after the civilians who are crossing over to the Government ’s no fire zone although it is demanding them to come over to this area. The suffering and fleeing civilians are caught between the devil and the deep blue sea. When they come to the Government ’s no fire zone complying with Government orders to avoid being shelled after acutely suffering in the war torn area , they are not provided even with the basic food, shelter and medicines , he added.
The Government is hindering those who can help and provide relief to these civilians, as only its selected people are allowed to visit those zones, he regretted.
