(April 27, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) Security forces have been instructed to conduct operations in the north without resorting to the use of heavy weapons and air raids, according to Media Minister Lakshman Yapa Abeywardena.
He said the decision had been taken with the view that use of heavy weapons could cause harm to civilians.
“However, humanitarian operations to rescue civilians from the clutches of the LTTE will continue,” the minister said. -Sri Lanka Guardian
