Probe on to arrest killers of JVP supporter

(April 06, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) Extensive investigations are on to arrest those responsible for the attack on JVP supporters in the Kalagedihena inVeyangoda, Gampaha early this morning.

One person died and another injured in the attack.

According to a senior police officer, five assailants in a cab had carried out the shooting.

The group of 12 JVP supporters, returning from the ‘Wiru Samaru’ ceremony in a van, had been threatened while they were on the Naiwala Road in Veyangoda. While they were on the Kalagedihena Road on their way to reach the Kandy Road, they had come under attack.

The police official noted that the same group who had threatened them earlier would have come in pursuit to carry out the attack.
