(April 15, Kalutara, Sri Lanka Guardian) Six prisoners were shot dead when they attempted to escape from the Kalutara prison this morning.
“Prison officials opened fire when the prisoners made their escape bid around 3 this morning. Six prisoners died and four were injured in the incident,” said Major General Wajira Wijegunawardene, Prisons Commissioner General.
The injured are receiving treatment at the Kalutara Nagoda hospital under the protection of prison authorities, Major General Wijegunawardena said. -Sri Lanka Guardian
