Tigers rob Sewalanka vehicles

(April 09, Toronto, Sri Lanka Guardian) The news item datelined Colombo appearing in on of the daily news papers on April 09, 2009 needs very close scrutiny by the security forces and the government authorities and specially by the Committee headed by Rajiva Wijesinha, Secretary to the Ministry of Disaster Management and Human Rights which has been, appointed on the instructions of Secretary to the President Lalith Weeratunga to probe INGO/NGO activities in Sri Lanka. The government should probe this breaking news fully and completely with the help of the security forces.

The fact remains very clear that INGOs and NGOs have played a very involved engagement in flaming the violent armed struggle between the mislead Tamil youth and the government forces who have been defending the soverignity of the state. Notwithstanding the fact of humanitarian activities that Sewalanka has been involved, specially in the Notthern, North Eastern and Eastern province, maybe as a disguise to get into these areas, the track record of Sewalanka is questionable, viz-a-viz the funding sources which have been the live wire for the activities that Sewalanka has been involved in. Questionable institutions such as NOVIB of Nertherlands and certain German donors are the original funders of Sewalanka which was formed by it's chairman Harsha Kumara Navaratne who was in the inception, involved with Sarvodaya along with Dr. Jehan Perera, now the head of the National Peace Council. Both seem to have some form of relationship with the founder of Sarvoday Movement in the inception, but broke away to create their own NGO entities when funding was channeled to the new entities by unscrupulous funding INGOs and donor agencies who expected kickbacks in the form of highly paid consultancy, perks and unrealistic field trips with lavish living condition which were spirited away from the grants arranged by the so-called humanitarian aid experts. It will be sad to note how these INGOs and NGOs have deceived the innocent Tamils in the North and the Vanni, when the security forces say that nothing of development has been done in the ares now been over run by the army.

The organizations these foreigners were engaged with, received the millions of dollars and sterling pounds from their governments, the UN, EU and other funding agencies. The "you scratch my back - I scratch your back" principle has been what many of the officials of these agencies have been involved in Sri Lanka with the NGOs that they helped to form, supported by foreign funding. The local NGO "pukka sahibs" carried out what was commanded by these foreign vultures who created agony and misery to innocent lives and instigated civil disobedience and civil unrest in countries like Sri Lankan in order to reap the benefits of the funding channels for their extravagant way of lives and thumping wages paid to themselves. Sri Lanka sees today how INGO and local NGO offiials paid Rs. 1 million a month wage for the b......shit they have been doing in Sri Lanka.

The security forces have not only gone so far to eradicate terrorism in Sri Lanka, but as a result have unearthed enough evidence of the treachery of our own citizens who have connived with these foreign vultures whose way of life has been destroying innoent lives and misleading people for their own benefits, ultimately to destroy the progress and prosperity of a Nation. Sewalanka can be included in the list of such NGOs present in Sri Lanka with evidence further how a very prominent former Minister of Sports was used as a pawn to cover up all the nefarious activities of this NGO in the Batticola and Trincomalee districts, when anti government forces were were dominating the areas. The Minister later realizing the gravity of the consequences and withdrew his dealings with this NGO.

If the government is true to its cause and will stand its feet on the issue of going ahead with the probing inquiries of INGOs and NGOs present in Sri Lanka, what come maybe, this incident of "Tigers rob Sewalanka vhicles" has to be probed without leaving no stones turned at any cost. The influence these NGOs wield are tremendous and powerful, because they have oiled the phams of many senior government officials who may be designated to conduct the probes. These officials maybe blackmailed by these vultures in order to cover up their dangerous and questionable past. Therefore, it is adviceable for the government to engage the security forces to be included with the civilian officials when making the probes. This does not amount to distrust or suspect all government officials, because there are very dedicated and national minded government officials who have and are leading a very honest way of life, serving the country and the nation with unmost sincerity, safeguarding the interests of the nation. Yet, being vigilant should now be the priority of the security forces and the government.

Putting all the blame on the LTTE for the wrong part played by the INGOs and the NGOs is not at all fair by the LTTE itself. The TRUTH and nothing but the TRUTH should be revealed and these unscrupulous NGOs must be taken to task by the nation and the government.

The role played by INGOs and NGOs such as Sewa Lanka in helping the LTTE for decades and their enticement of public service officers also into their kickback and bribery ridden modus operandi must be inquired into thouroughly. For example, when particular instances of training of Tamil youth brought to Colombo from Tiger controlled areas without consent from institutional Governing Council, secretly arranged by a few greedy officers in connivance with NGOs like Sewa Lanka and INGOs like IMO were questioned and reported to the CID as well as to the highest levels, the Chairman of the National Institute was laughed at. That is how Sea Tiger Training and Deep Sea Diving and various other coastal and sea training schemes were done by them using government facilities, money and personnel. The CID officer who came for the inquiry commenced the inquiry properly but after meeting the accused officers and the NGO persons asked the Chairman whether the Act of Parliament for governance of the Institute required that all training projects should have Governing Council permission! The Act did not specify that. Thereupon the CID went totally incommunicado. The latest news is that the particular CID Officer had emigrated to Canada and so have some of the accused!!
In response to the Chairman's disciplinary overtures, the miscreants concocted a whole series of totally false allegations against the Chairman and reported him to the Bribery & Corruption Commission, the COPE and then these NGO-affiliates paid a vast sum of money to a Sunday News Paper to publish all these lies to name and shame the Chairman. A President's Counsel advised the Chairman that he can sue the paper but in Sri Lanka that means a long drawn out expensive law suit during which time the News Paper will publish more concocted lies to shame the Petitioner. Besides it is not a criminal offince in Sri Lanka to name and shame people in public news media.
The Chairman of the Institute concerned got so disgusted of the trecherous activities of these people that he resigned and left the country also.
If well meaning honest people are treated like that in Sri Lanka, do you think that a Dharma Rajjaya will blossom in such a cess pit?

I am a SL born Canadian citizen, after the Tsunami I work with INGOs for about three years in SL, it was very sad how majority of INGOs behave in my motherland, at first they look like the saviors but later becoming a part of the corruption, THEY MADE THEIR OWN DECISIONS, smoke in school yards front of children , temporary houses were builded in low flooding area , permanent house were build with low quality materials with no foundations , so much money were waisted, finally they never listen to the locals, All I have to say is that it should never repeat , any INGO come to Srilanka must follow the government rules or they should go back.
