'We'll develop our area with the aid of our Diaspora siblings'

(April 03, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) Amidst a huge financial deficit the development works in the Northern Province are being taken forward as a result of our striving and untiring efforts, said Social Services and Social Welfare Minister and Chairman of Special Task Force for Northern Province, Douglas Devananda.

The Minister stated this responding to the requests put forwarded to him by the representatives of the public organizations who had a meeting with the Minister in his Vavuniya Office today (02.04.2009).

Several organizations and institutions have became bankruptcy and are unable to move ahead as they have drained all the money from their coffer to the LTTE as extortion due to their threat. A singe cent out of this extortion money was not spent for the welfare of the public by the LTTE leadership instead all the money were used for their ulterior gains and motives. But today it is in the verge of destruction.

Our Diaspora kith and kin also have contributed a sizable part of their earnings to the LTTE either wittingly or unwittingly. If they will remit the same amount of money to us now we can use them for the betterment and welfare of our people and to develop over area, the Minister said further.
